You make some good points, but your comments re: separate but equal are off base. Not every 'separate but equal' is wrong. Men and women themselves are separate but equal. Surely we have gotten past the belief that men and women are exactly the same except for some basic 'plumbing.' Men and women are different; a man is not a woman and vice versa. They are *separate*--but they are also *equal.* Different doesn't not automatically equal inferior. For instance, a man cannot bear a child (please don't give me the example of that sex-change operation guy--his plumbing was still female.) That makes him different from a women--separate in abilities--but still equal. You get my point.
